File Types
Vector images are created in programs that use mathematical equations to create objects. These objects can be enlarged or reduced to virtually any size and retain their crisp edges and details. These files are ideal for text and very detailed artwork.
Bitmap images are created in programs that use tiny blocks of color called pixels. The more pixels that make up an image, the clearer and better it will look. Resolution refers to the number of pixel in one inch of image (dpi = dots per inch). The higher the resolution the better the image. These files are usually scanned into the computer and manipulated.

Digital File Setup
- Photoshop (bitmap) files should be set up at a minimum of 72 dpi at final size.
- If specific colors are desired please use Pantone (PMS) numbers.
- If combining text and logos with bitmap images, use a vector or combination program (Adobe Illustrator) to assemble the elements. Text does not translate well in bitmap programs and you end up with fuzzy or jaggy edges.
- Set up all files proportionate (to scale) to the final desired size. Ask your sales rep for the size specifications of your output.
- In vector programs that support it, convert all fonts to pathes or outlines.

Vinyl File Setup
- Vinyl production requires Vector artwork.
- Only certain solid colors are available in vinyl. Ask your sales rep for available color samples.
- Convert all fonts to pathes or outlines.

| IMPORTANT: |

- Save bitmap files as EPS or TIFF files. If additional manipulation is needed (i.e. color work or special effects) save Photoshop files as a PSD file - Photoshop document - and preserve the layers.
- DO NOT save vector files in an EPS format. This can prevent manipulation and lead to printing complications.
- A multi-panel image can be set up as one image file. We will split it into panels as we print it.
